My interest in medicine has been present within myself ever since I can remember. I switched off from wanting to be a pediatrician, to a surgeon, and now, I wish to study pharmaceutical sciences. This decision was made with my interests in mind as well as what is going to support me in the future financially. No, I do not want to be working at Walgreens as a head pharmacist. That's not it. I want to be behind the scenes making and discovering new medicine to better our world's health. Now, I understand how cliche this all sounds, but in all honesty, who wouldn't want to experiment with different chemicals and produce the cure for some fatal disease? This is where my interest begins. I'm a huge "do-gooder" and I want to improve the quality of life for everyone; not just those who can afford it. UC Irvine does just this. Even if my interest in pharmaceutical sciences falls through, my other interest, computer science, holds a huge presence on campus. UC Irvine even has a program on campus that if you major in computer science, you are 100% guaranteed a job in the field of computer science as soon as you graduate! How appealing, right? UC Irvine holds all. School spirit, amazing academics, my top choice of major, and even my fall back major! Whaddya know? This, my friends, is why I feel studying pharmaceutical sciences at UC Irvine would be the right choice for me.

My Interests in College & Career
To start off, I've visited and researched many many colleges in California, and few have received my full attention. From San Jose State, to UCLA, and everything in between, I'm shooting for a UC. My personal preference would be somewhere that is not entirely accessible to my parents, such as Southern California. When visiting colleges in the SoCal area, I viewed many beautiful campuses with so much to offer. UC Santa Barbara was by far the most aesthetically pleasing; however, the only issue is that UCSB has a very limited medical program present on campus. This was a total deal breaker. Once I made my way down to the Los Angeles area, I came across UC Irvine. My first thoughts were, "Wow, what a beautiful campus. And ooh, there is so much activity going on!" I want to attend a college that first off, offers a medical program that encompasses my major, and also somewhere where I can find school involvement. UCI had everything. Bands playing at lunch, clubs publicizing themselves, and wait... What was that? Pharmaceutical sciences you say? Yes! Perfect.
